Where did you go to school?
I was born in Greece and went to primary school there. I then completed secondary school in Walldürn after moving to Germany with my family.
In what area is your training at WEISS?
I am training to be a cutting machine operator.
How did you end up at WEISS?
After year ten, I began to train as a geriatric nurse. I decided that I wanted to go into a social job, because I enjoy working with people. Nevertheless, my real passion for technology, especially for machines of all kinds, wouldn't let me go. So I decided to cancel my training as a geriatric nurse and instead search for the right technical profession for me. This led me to try many internships in different companies. I was able to build up a good picture of different professional fields. Since I am very interested in CNC machines, I wanted to train as a cutting machine operator. I learned from relatives that WEISS offers training places in this area.
How did the application go?
I found a contact address on the internet, sent in an application and then eventually got to introduce myself in person. The application and the interview ran smoothly and very pleasantly. After I had successfully passed the placement test, I could do a 3-day trial and was then hired as a trainee.
How is your training structured?
My training happens alternately between WEISS and the vocational school, which I always attend on Mondays and every second week also on Tuesdays.
How do you like your training?
The training is great for me. We work a lot with turning and milling machines, which is a lot of fun. In addition, my colleagues are very nice and the instructors teach us a lot.
Why did you choose WEISS as a training company?
The company has a good reputation and the WEISS staff are very friendly. I am very proud that I have had the chance to train at WEISS.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In Greece, I attended the Arsenal FC Soccer School. However, my football career didn't work out, which was unfortunately also due to my move to Germany. Hence why I admittedly very happily play football in my spare time, but currently not for a club. Besides that, I often go to the gym, meet with friends or do something with my girlfriend.
What are your professional goals?
I would like to successfully complete my training and study for a Master’s. Actually, my goal is to become self-employed and build my own business. But there is still a long way to go until then.
What reasons would you give to friends why they should start their training at WEISS?
WEISS is a great employer that doesn't just stand for quality, but also employs very friendly and great people. You can have fun at WEISS and at the same time get the chance to build a good and secure future.
What three terms do you think best describe WEISS?
Quality, great team and security.
